About Yulu
Website: yulu.bike
Yulu is a bike sharing platform, primarily based out of Bangalore but also operational in other cities such as Mumbai and Pune. It is a dockless bike share i.e. you can pick up and drop the bike anywhere. For this reason the app becomes the centerpoint of all customer interactions, including unlocking and locking the bike and hence attains importance.
Today's problem statements:
1. Identify quick User Experience hacks for Yulu to improve the overall app experience
2. Feature X: Define a new feature (or combination of features), that could act as a true differentiator for Yulu in the bike sharing market
For both of these it would be prudent to download the Yulu app and try it out as a user. You need to identify things that need improvement (focus on acquisition channels, onboarding flows, signup process). Also look at reasons why people download an app of this nature, what is the intent. If you do not have insights, it would be useful to ask people first hand (do your own research).
Hint: You can look for UXHacks or Feature-X that helps improve one or more of the following key metrics:
1. Acquisition (increase)
2. Retention (improve) - means reduce Uninstalls
3. Active hours (increase)
You can add to these, but clearly mention what they mean
You can use the following data points and assumptions to work on the problem statements:
1. Retention % : 11% (people who keep the app a month after downloading)
2. Download to Signup % (including payment of security deposit): 26% (26 out of 100 people who download the app signup)
3. Total Downloads: ~100K
If you need additional data, please Ask in the discussion forum
Formats:
- You may use any format to present your solutions: PPT, Doc, Adobe XD, Invision etc. However, for final presentation export your content to PDF
- It is advisable to use annotated screenshots from the existing app, rather than create new wireframes and designs
Other points:
- Do NOT focus on design and aesthetics, focus on functionality. That said, if a redesign can drastically improve any of the key metrics, you can suggest it
- Research is just as important as personal experience
- Competition analysis, industry trends and insights from these can help immensely
- You have a total of 7min to present, make sure your content fits this
