UXHack recap of 2023
A quick review of what we accomplished in 2023 at UXHack and what's in store for 2024

One more year has come to an end.
As with any business, we too try to follow a practice of documenting hits and misses of the year gone by. And plan for the next year.
However this time, I am taking the liberty of putting this out as a blog and sharing it with the wider audience. More than the hits and misses, I want to jot down what we look forward to accomplishing in 2024. Not exactly #buildinpublic but I still think it will help us bring in more discipline. As a bootstrapped business, this is one way to celebrate how far you have come and also to make yourself more accountable :)
So without further ado let's dive into the year gone by:
What we accomplished in 2023:
- Feb 2023: Did a soft launch of our Hiring Product to help growing startups tap into our curated Product and design talent base. However, the timing was not right given the series of layoffs that started early this year. Hence, we never made much noise about it. However, we are glad that 7 companies still used our product with a couple of them opting for premium job posts.
- Apr 2023: We always wanted a regular activity to happen on UXHack. And that's how the idea of TGIF was born. I will say this was one of the best experiments we did in a short time. So for those who are unaware, TGIF is a weekly Product and Design quiz that goes out every Friday at 8 pm. Stats so far:
- 37 editions
- Average of 50+ submissions/live quiz
- Whatsapp group have crossed 200+ subscribers
- Sep 2023: We revamped the public Job board page. We now curate the best Product & Design jobs and publish them every week. No wonder given the market, this gained good traction. You can read more about it here
- Oct 2023: We finally were able to also execute our weekly Newsletter - Mixology.
- Nov 2023: And finally looks like we saved the best launch for last. Weekend Hackathons
- 6 editions
- 1k unique impressions
- 300+ members on our Whatsapp group
And yes we also are nearing 8500 members on our platform!
Quite a list. Much better than 2022. Though still not a perfect 10/10.
So to have a perfect score, here's a rough plan of what we would like to accomplish in 2024.
Plans for 2024:
- Help companies find quality Product & Design talent: Given the current learning, we have some experiments lined up that we want to try out in the market. Check out the demo here
- Regular events: This year went into fine-tuning workflows so that we can do more events. While TGIF and Weekend are now a regular affair, we will bring back Weekly Challenges and Hiring Hackathons in an evolved avatar. Also hopefully at least a couple of new event properties.
- A new way to let companies tap into our talent base: Can't reveal much but a better way for companies to leverage power of our community to get quick UX feedback.
- Bringing value to College hackathons: So this year we helped run two UX hackathons for colleges. Interestingly both leads came via our community members who were students of those colleges. We already have made it easier for the student community to host their Product, Design, or UX hackathons. We can help with guidance around Problem statements, Jury panels, and more. Also, we provide Eldorado subscriptions to winners.
And a few more experiments that are yet to be detailed. Hopefully, by the end of Jan 2024, will add to this as we go along :)
