Fullstory:
It’s been almost 2 years since we did our last Weekly Challenge. So, it goes without saying that we are delighted to bring to you a shorter version of our much loved Weekly Challenges. We give you:
As the name suggests, these hackathons will last for 2 days, i.e over the weekend.
Every Friday we will pick one product and within that, one screen that you will need to improve. Hence the tagline: One screen, One product, One weekend. Fits in, just nice.
To help you along, we’ll also give you a little context about the particular screen and challenges faced.
These are design focussed challenges, so the output will be, well, design. You can directly upload your entry on the page, or post it on social and tag us.
From the entries, we will pick 2 winners (a winner and runner-up) and showcase their designs on our socials and site. There are also prizes: Amazon vouchers/books and Eldorado subscriptions.
As we have mentioned, we’d love to do these every weekend, depending on the response. So dive right in and showoff those design skills, Picasso 😃
Different ways of getting involved:
Young designers, new to design: This is the perfect opportunity to learn and hone your design skills. Don’t just think about winning, but also about seeing other’s entries and how they tackled the same problem.
Experienced designers (2-5yrs): You’ve honed your design skills, it’s time to showcase then and win some prizes :) Also, if you are the kind that likes to compete, to get the best out of yourself, you’ve come to the right place.
Senior designers (5+ yrs exp): You like the format, you like the challenges, but you must be wondering: is this for me? Hold onto that thought. We’d love to involve more experienced designers in our challenges. How? In the following ways:
- Judging the designs
- Setting up the challenges
- Giving feedback to young designers
What do you get in return? Well, besides giving back to the design community, which is great, you get the opportunity to interact with young designers and mould their careers (more on this later). Also, there can be opportunities for structured, paid feedback. This is all in the works and interest driven, so if this is you, share your details here:
PMs and aspiring PMs: ‘These are design focused challenges’ What a downer! That’s exactly what you must be thinking. Well, don’t. The more we see the emergence of tech and AI, the more the borders between a PM and designer are fading. So, it’s not a bad idea, or time, to pick up design, as a skill, and get better at it. Try these challenges out and see if you can become a better PM, by getting better at design (pretty sure you will, but don’t just take our word for it)
Now try it on a real brief
