Brief Description: In this challenge you need to find ways to build confidence and revive demand for bookings

Consider the scenario:
You are planning a weekend getaway and contemplating where to stay.

Obviously, you want to be very sure of the place you choose.

You also want a unique, memorable experience: since this is the 1st time in many months that you are travelling.

So as you open Airbnb, you have these lingering doubts: Is it safe? Is it sanitised? Have they taken precautions? Would a large hotel chain be better instead…. The list is long, understandably.

As a part of the challenge you need to find ways in which Airbnb can build confidence amongst travellers so that they may actually book properties.

The changes you suggest could be incremental: product/design improvements, improved communication across channels; or something completely out of the blue: A new feature. 

Basically the changes/additions should nudge users to book.

It’s also important to check what the competition & companies in related sectors are doing and adopt in a way that is uniquely Airbnb.

We are looking more for the depth and detailing of the suggestion/s, rather than volume.

Also, most importantly, what you suggest must be:

  • Practical & executable
  • Sensitive & safe (so big no to proposing ‘parties’ which Airbnb just banned)
  • Focussed on product & design (so simply ‘adding a video to assure users’ or ‘do influencer marketing’ will not do)

Please note:

  • Airbnb is NOT hosting this challenge. This is only a learning exercise. However, we will try and share the top solutions with Airbnb
  • We are not looking for redesigns. However, impactful designs will get weightage

Take Challenge gives you the ability to test your skills in solving real world product problems, on-demand. These challenges are featured problems from our Hackathons, events and Learning Hackathon initiatives and are based on solving real world UX problems.

Our challenges cover a gamut of Product & Design skills such as User Research, Competition Analysis, Wireframing, Prioritization, Information Architecture, Interaction Design and more

The grading of submission is done by the UXHack team. We grade any submission on various parameters on a 10 point scale (few parameters change basis the challenge in consideration). However, some common parameters usually are: Problem Solving, Research & Solution Detailing
An overall score is calculated for the submission which is not the average of scoring parameters. Overall score is also on a 10 point scale.

Once you register for a challenge, a submission window is available on the same challenge page. You can submit your solution on the challenge page itself and if need be attach documents (PDF recommended)

Once you submit a solution, and after the end of the due date, your submission is evaluated by the UXHack team. It takes us maximum of 3 days to share your scores with you. Based on the plan you avail, after your scores are published, you get to view a detailed scorecard as well as see other solutions. If you have opted for a feedback, you also get personalized feedback.

Please note: Once submitted, you can make unlimited changes to the solution, before the due date.

You can opt for Assist mode as shown above where our experts will guide you on how to approach. Also, you get access to a Whatsapp group of previous participants where you can also post your queries.
