Linkedin has finally gone ahead and done it: it has launched a feature that had the house divided on whether making Linkedin more ‘social’ and ‘engaging’ is the right way forward.

The feature in question? Linkedin Stories.

While there will be varied opinions on this feature, which is now almost a norm across social platforms, in this challenge we want you to focus on what can be done better by Linkedin.

Basically, while stories as an offering is pretty clear, its fitment within Linkedin is questionable, if adopted as is from Instagram and Snapchat.

So, in this challenge you need to figure out 2 ways in which Linkedin can fine-tune Stories to gain maximum leverage while also enabling valuable, professional conversations (as opposed to people posting random photos)

These tweaks should give due consideration to why people visit Linkedin in the first place.

Hence, it’s expected that you carry out basic user research and prioritise for the top two changes you would like Linkedin to make in Stories.

We are also looking for fresh ideas, as opposed to plain and simple ones, so be bold with your suggestions.

Please Note:

  • Avoid focussing on Usability improvements and tweaks. Given this is v1 of Stories, we are sure Linkedin will improve this aspect as time passes
  • We also recommend carrying out polls to leverage your social reach and get people’s opinions on what they think about the feature presently. This could lead to some interesting insights, if done right, across platforms
  • Speak to a few regular users to get a sense of what people’s expectations from Linkedin are. We recommend a mix of youngsters/students, professionals, startup founders
  • Linkedin is not hosting this challenge. This is only a learning exercise.

  • The points you score will be added to the Weekly Leaderboard, making you eligible for the final prizes at the end of the season. So, even if half done, make sure you atleast submit your solution, to gain some points

The grading of submission is done by the UXHack team. We grade any submission on various parameters on a 10 point scale (few parameters change basis the challenge in consideration). However, some common parameters usually are: Problem Solving, Research & Solution Detailing
An overall score is calculated for the submission which is not the average of scoring parameters. Overall score is also on a 10 point scale.

Once you register for a challenge, a submission window is available on the same challenge page. You can submit your solution on the challenge page itself and if need be attach documents (PDF recommended)

Once you submit a solution, and after the end of the due date, your submission is evaluated by the UXHack team. It takes us maximum of 3 days to share your scores with you. Based on the plan you avail, after your scores are published, you get to view a detailed scorecard as well as see other solutions. If you have opted for a feedback, you also get personalized feedback.

Please note: Once submitted, you can make unlimited changes to the solution, before the due date.
