WhatsApp Communities Problem Statement
You’ve recently joined WhatsApp as a Product Design intern and have been assigned to the Communities team.
For context, WhatsApp Communities was rolled out to users in November 2022, as a way for communities to organise existing group chats into a collection. Previously, such organisation was not possible, and the feature was generally well received.
However, it has been more than 2 years now and Communities has hardly seen any improvements or updates. Plus, at launch, there were some limitations inherent in the product, given that it was then only a way to organise a collection of groups.
As a Design intern you have been tasked with reimagining Communities on WhatsApp. Your brief is simple yet has layers to it: Make WhatsApp Communities more wholistic, both for community members and admins.
Basically you need to redesign Communities so that they are more usable and at the same time, think of new features that should be added.
Everything that you do should be for two distinct personas:

Problem Solving, User Research, Design quality, Ideation
Note:
- Your redesigns should be done in Figma (or any other design tool), with the original link shared as part of your submission
- Additionally, you can create a deck explaining your ideas and designs
- It is recommended that you undertake primary user research. Bonus points for quality research work
- You need to maintain design consistency with WhatsApp’s existing style (fonts, colors). The redesigned offering should feel like it is a part of WhatsApp
- Kindly avoid generic improvements as would be suggested by GenAI tools like ChatGPT
- Any form of plagiarism will lead to disqualification
